Today we will be reviewing our spring cleaning guide about cleaning and decluttering your home; but we’ll also take it a step further and declutter your digital space.

I may be giving you double the work, but don’t worry, you’ll be able to get it all done before springtime ends. In fact, all you need is two weeks.

Spring Cleaning Guide: A Clean Physical & Digital Space In Two Weeks

All it takes is two weeks to have both your physical and digital space organized, cleaned, and refreshed. Each day I’m giving you one task to complete each day, but feel free to move things around, skip a day, double up, whatever works for you.

Spring Cleaning Guide: Clean Physical & Digital Spaces

Week 1: Cleaning Up Your Physical Space

Let’s start this spring cleaning guide with your home. There are a variety of ways you can approach spring cleaning your home. Some of the more popular ways are going room by room or going task by task. We are going to focus our energy on cleaning task by task.

Monday: Declutter

The first task we are going to do is some decluttering. I want you to go through every area of your home and take inventory of all the items in there. Decide what you want to keep, donate or throw away.

For example, if you start in the bedroom you might go through your clothes, makeup, and if you’re like me – journals and stationary supplies. Then when you get to the kitchen you’ll go through your pantry, in the bathroom you’ll take a look at the medicine cabinet, you get the idea.

The goal here is to get rid of things you no longer need/want. It’s a great task to start a week of deep spring cleaning.

Tuesday: Dust/Wipe Down/Disinfect

Next, it’s time to get rid of all the dust bunnies and have our home on the way to looking like new. Go room by room and take care of any surfaces, light fixtures, baseboards, appliances, etc.. As you can see we get the most tedious tasks out the way first. The rest of the week should be a breeze once you complete today.

Wednesday: Wash all curtains and spot clean furniture

We got the surfaces covered yesterday, now it’s time to wash and clean. Take down any window and shower curtains you have and give them a wash. While they are in the washer, turn your attention to your furniture. Then take time to spot clean them and finish off by spraying some fabric refresher spray.

Thursday: Sweep, vacuum, and mop the house

Now that all the dust has been stirred up, it’s time to get rid of it. Today’s task is to simply sweep/mop and vacuum each room in your house. As you can tell, when you finish the task, everything is starting to look and feel clean and refreshed.

Friday: Wash all bedding

You’ve been working hard all week, and it’s Friday, so this task should be nice and easy. All you have to do is wash the bedding in the house. That’s it. You are now done with the cleaning portion of of spring cleaning your home.

Saturday: Revamp any spaces that you’d like to change up

Wait there is more. If you want to go the extra mile, and want something different, do some revamping today. First, take a look at each room in your home and then decide if you want to change anything. Maybe you’ll add some new decor in your living area, or hang new curtains in your bedroom. You could even do some furniture rearranging as well.

Sunday: Take a rest day, you deserve it.

Now you are truly done with house cleaning. Take a step back and admire your work. Then get ready for week two when we turn our attention to your digital life.

Week 2: Cleaning Up Your Digital Space

Now it’s time shift in our spring cleaning guide to focus on cleaning up your digital life. It may not seem like something that needs special attention, but once you start digging into these tasks you’ll understand how needed they are. With that being said, let’s get started.

Monday: Go through your photos on all your devices

The first task in our effort to declutter your digital space is to go through your photos. Figure out which ones you want to keep, what needs to be deleted, and maybe consider transferring your photos onto a flash drive or other storage device to free up space.

You want to do this on any device you have photos on (phone, computer, tablet, etc.). Think about all the old screenshots and duplicate photos that are sitting on your devices. It’s time to get rid of them because they simply have been hanging around too long.

Tuesday: Go through your downloads and documents on all of your devices

Next up we are going to tackle your downloads and documents as the next step of this spring cleaning guide. Delete any that you no longer need or want. This would also be a great time to set up an organizational system if you don’t have one set up already. That way you know where to find important documents when you need them.

Wednesday: Clean out/organize your Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, etc.

Now let’s switch our focus to the Cloud, or any other similar storage website you use. Delete any documents, photos, videos, as well as any other files that you no longer need. Once you’re done with that it’s time to organize your leftover files. Whether you are creating new folders and starting to organize your files, or you are updating ones you’ve already created, make sure you have a system that works for you.

Thursday: Review the apps on your phone, and any other devices you may have

Now, it’s time to go back to your devices. Today we are reviewing all the apps on them. Determine which ones you still use and all the others you can delete. This will declutter your devices as well as ensure you only have what you actually use on them.

Friday: Social media part one – review your followers/friends

Depending on the size of your social accounts, this one may take some time. It’s crucial to review who you are following on social media every so often to make sure you’re surrounded with content that will lift you up, not tear you down.

Saturday: Social media part two- review your posts and photos

We are staying with social media again today. This time the focus is on your profiles. Sometimes things we post may seem okay at the moment, but can be harmful when you look back. Today look out for those posts, or maybe just pictures you don’t want online, and delete them.

Sunday: Reflect on all you have accomplished the past two weeks

You’ve done a lot over the past two weeks. Take today to catch up on anything you may have missed, or rather just reflect on all you’ve done.
