5 Tips to Motivate Yourself to Be Your Best Self

Our twenties are a time of self discovery, development, and growth.

Our twenties are a time of self discovery, development, and growth. They are the time to discover who we are and how we can push ourselves to be our best selves to make sure we are growing in positive and enriching ways.

It can be very easy to get caught up in the struggles of every day life. Every once and a while, we all need a little motivation to be our best selves.

Here are five quick tips you can use today to motivate yourself to be your best self:

1. Be confident. Know what you’re good at — and own it.

One of my favorite quotes lately is “The world does not benefit from you hiding from your own badassery.” I’m not sure where it originally came from, but I’ve been hearing it around my yoga studio and I’ve found it to be incredibly motivating and inspiring.

Embracing your own “badassery” means finding the things you’re good at and feeling confident enough to own the things that make you, you.

2. Push yourself outside your comfort zone.

And remember that you don’t have to do it all at once; you can take baby steps. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone doesn’t have to (and probably shouldn’t) be anything wild or dramatic. It just means that you push yourself to try something new every once in a while so you can continue to evolve and grow as a person.

That might mean picking up a challenging course that causes you to think and grow intellectually, or going to an event that causes you to branch out and grow socially, or even starting an exercise class that challenges you physically.

Whatever you do, it’s important to remember that it’s when we do things outside our comfort zone that allow us to grow.

3. Surround yourself with people who build you up.

You’ll find it a lot easier to motivate yourself to be your best self if you’re surrounded by people who love and support you, so make sure to get out of toxic friendships and relationships that only bring you down.

Surrounding yourself with toxic relationships only brings you down, fostering a negativity and pessimism inside you, even if you don’t realize what’s happening. Cutting yourself free from those types of relationships is just that – it’s freeing. It gives you the ability to refocus your attitude and get you back on track toward being the best version of yourself you can be.

4. Carve out time for self-care.

One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is take time out of our busy days to do something for ourselves. The best part is that there’s no wrong way to do self care: it’s just about finding ways to nourish yourself that are authentic to who you are and what you’ve got going on. We all just need some time to ourselves to recharge and refocus so we can continue to be the best, most badass versions of ourselves as we can be.

5. Visualize your goals — and what it will look like when you achieve them.

It can be easy to lose sight of our goals when things get busy and/or stressful. But by taking a few minutes to picture what it will look like when you reach them, it’s easier to reorganize and refocus to get back on track toward achieving them.

Self growth and development are ongoing efforts. You won’t just wake up someday suddenly being the absolute best version of yourself – and even if you do there’s always room for improvement. Just make conscious, mindful efforts toward improving yourself, and you’ll naturally develop into your best self.

Tell me, how do you motivate yourself to be your best self? Do you have any tips that help keep you motivated and on track with your goals?
