The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey has been inspiring people to transform their life for over 30 years now. The 30th anniversary edition includes remarks from Sean Covey to include experiences/tips for the modern world.

Maggie gave us a great overview with key takeaways in her review, so definitely check it out if this book appeals to you.

7. How Are You, Really? By Jenna Kutcher

In the last of the GenTwenty reviews, I’d love for you to check out the lessons I learned from reading the book How Are You, Really? by Jenna Kutcher.

In this book Jenna shows us how to say no to hustle culture and avoid burnout. Instead we want to seek a life of enrichment, learning who we are and what we want, outside of the busy-ness.

Other Personal Development Books To Check Out

These last few books may not have been reviewed on GenTwenty, but who knows, maybe they will in the future. Some of these I have personally read and recommend to everyone I talk to, others are on my to-be-read-list. I wonder which ones you’ll be reading for Self Improvement Month? Let me know in the comments.

8. Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo

Everything is Figureoutable by: Marie Forleo

In Everything Is Figureoutable author Marie Forleo helps us develop a new mindset to realize that we can accomplish anything we want.

In this book you’ll learn things like how to deal with imposter syndrome, how to actually achieve your goals, and more. I’ve had this book on my TBR for a long time now. I’m hoping to get to it this month to celebrate Self Improvement Month.

9. Feel Good Productivity by Ali Abdaal

Feel-Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You

In Feel Good Productivity author Ali Abdaal shares the three hidden ‘energisers’ that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three ‘blockers’ that cause procrastination, and the three ‘sustainers’ that will help us  achieve lasting fulfillment.

10. Atomic Habits by James Clear

best books on discipline

This is the book to read if you want to learn how to create and sustain better habits. I read Atomic Habits by James Clear back in 2021 and I learned so much about how to create a habit, break a bad habit, and get back on course if I fail. It’s a must-read for anyone who is looking to make habit changes.

11. Worthy By Jamie Kern Lima

Worthy: How to Believe You Are Enough and Transform Your Life

If you struggle with self-worth, this book is for you. I read Worthy by Jamie Kern Lima a few months ago, and I discovered so many tools and tips to help when I’m not feeling worthy of who I am. I personally loved Jamie’s poem You’re Not Crazy, You’re Just First.

12. Self-Compassion by Kristen Neff

Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself

In Self-Compassion by Kristen Neff you’ll learn how to get rid of self-criticism so that we can lead happy lives full of compassion for others, and most importantly ourselves.

I received this book in a subscription box a few years ago and started reading it but never finished it, reading slumps are awful am I right? I want to go back and read it because I believe I can continue to gain a lot of insight from it.

13. Level Up by Rob Dial

Level Up: How to Get Focused, Stop Procrastinating, and Upgrade Your Life

Level Up by Rob Dial is such a great book that inspires you to focus up so that you can level up your life.

This was the first book that I annotated with sticky tabs and even though it is a short book I ran out of tabs. So that should tell you how impactful the book is.

14. The Mountain Is You by Brianna West

The Mountain Is You: Transforming Self-Sabotage Into Self-Mastery

This is another book that has been on my TBR for a while. I’m eager to read The Mountain Is You because it’s all about overcoming self-sabotaging behaviors, which I have a few of. I’m hoping to read this one by the end of the year, if not sometime this month.

15. How To Fail by Elizabeth Day

How to Fail

The last book on our list of personal development books to read for self improvement month is called How To Fail by Elizabeth Day.

While failing can be a scary, uncomfortable feeling, it can actually be a good thing. If you frame it by “what can you learn from this failure?” you’ll see all that you can gain from it. I can’t wait to read this one.
