I didn’t have an alarm clock at first in college, but eventually I got one and it made a world of difference to not rely on my phone for that!
Walmart always has good deals at great prices.
Tanga is a great website that offers lots of deals of the day on useful items! They also have some unique storage and decor items available that would work will for dorm life. Keep an eye on their great deals if you have something specific in mind that you need to get.

Calling out this specifically because I can vouch for it (three people have bought a new mattress after sleeping on the Nolah one in my guest room), but also because you’re going to want a mattress topper!
Dorm beds can be super uncomfortable and flat, making for a hard night of sleep. If you can swing it, I’d also get a mattress protector – more to protect you from the mattress than anything!
