Solly Baby Nursing Bralette Review: My Thoughts After 8 Years of Breastfeeding

I've been pregnant or breastfeeding for the better part of eight years. As a mom of three who is currently still breastfeeding my two-year-old, I feel like I've experienced just about every stage of nursing. And, I've experienced so many baby nursing bras too.

It's those early newborn days when you're feeding around the clock to nursing a toddler who somehow manages to defy gravity while breastfeeding. I've learned a lot about what makes a good nursing bra.

And believe me, not all nursing bras are created equal.

Over the years, I've tried different styles, fits, and fabrics. Some were great for the newborn stage but uncomfortable for everyday wear. Others were functional but not particularly flattering. And some just didn't hold up to the demands of motherhood. They didn't wash well and stand the test of time.

At this point, I'm looking for something a little different. I want a nursing bra that's comfortable enough to wear all day, easy to nurse in, and pretty enough that I actually enjoy putting it on.

That's what caught my attention about the Solly Baby Nursing Bralette.

After wearing it, I can confidently say that comfort is where this bralette really shines.

Why Finding the Right Nursing Bra Matters So Much

One thing I've learned after three babies is that your relationship with your body changes a lot throughout pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and breastfeeding. Your size fluctuates. Your needs change. And what felt comfortable during one stage might not work at all during another.

In the early postpartum days, I cared most about easy nursing access and having something gentle against sensitive skin. Now that I'm breastfeeding a toddler, I still need that convenience, but I also want something that fits into my everyday wardrobe.

I'm not exclusively living in the newborn bubble anymore. I'm chasing three kids, managing our home, working, and trying to carve out little moments for myself. A nursing bra needs to work with all of that.

I also think there's something to be said for feeling good in what you're wearing. After spending so many years pregnant or breastfeeding, I appreciate pieces that feel like they're designed for me as a whole person. It's not just for my role as a mom.

My First Impressions of the Solly Baby Nursing Bralette

The first thing I noticed about the Solly Baby Nursing Bralette was just how incredibly soft it is. And I don't mean just a little softer than your average nursing bra. The fabric is one of the standout features of this piece, in my opinion.

It's lightweight, stretchy, and feels wonderful against my skin. After years of wearing nursing bras, I can tell pretty quickly when something is going to be comfortable enough for everyday use. This one immediately stood out.

The bralette is made with Solly Luxe fabric, a blend of 94% TENCEL Modal and 6% spandex. It has a smooth, flexible feel that makes it comfortable for extended wear.

I also really appreciate the supportive band. Even though this is a light-support bralette, the band helps everything feel comfortably in place without being overly restrictive. There's no underwire digging in or complicated hardware to deal with with I so appreciate.

How Supportive Is the Solly Baby Nursing Bralette?

One thing I want do want to be clear about is that this is a light/medium-support bra. If you're looking for significant lift, shaping, or the structure of a traditional bra, this probably isn't going to replace those options. However, for what it's designed to do, I think the support is really comfortable.

When you're breastfeeding, the size of your breasts can fluctuate significantly throughout the day. This happens especially in the early postpartum period when your mature milk comes in. So while the support is not high, it's actually perfect for nursing mamas who change sizes throughout the day.

The band feels supportive, and the fabric provides enough gentle hold for wearing around the house, working from home, and going about my usual daily activities. I like it for casual outfits where I don't need a lot of structure underneath my clothing.

It's the kind of bra I can comfortably wear throughout the day without constantly thinking about it or wanting to take it off, which is a feat in itself! That said, I do find the style a little more limiting when it comes to dresses.

Depending on the neckline, cut, and fabric of the dress, I sometimes prefer a bra with a different shape or more structure. For that reason, I wouldn't necessarily consider this my only nursing bra. But as an everyday option for comfort and casual wear? It's excellent.

Why I Love It for Breastfeeding a Toddler

Breastfeeding a two-year-old is a completely different experience from breastfeeding a newborn. Toddlers aren't always particularly patient. When they want to nurse, they want to nurse. IKYK. They don't necessarily want to wait while you adjust straps or figure out a clasp.

That's one of the reasons I really appreciate the pull-aside design of this bralette. Instead of having to unclip anything, I can simply move the fabric aside to nurse. It's quick, uncomplicated, and makes nursing my two-year-old incredibly easy.

At this stage of breastfeeding, convenience matters a lot to me. I don't want to have to fuss with my clothing every time my toddler wants to nurse. And definitely not when I'm in the middle of doing something else.

After eight years of pregnancy and breastfeeding, I really appreciate a product that makes something I've done thousands of times feel just a little easier.

Why I Think It Would Be Wonderful for the Early Postpartum Days

Even though I'm currently nursing a toddler, I can absolutely see why this bralette would be a great choice for moms with newborns. Having gone through the postpartum period three times, I know how sensitive and uncomfortable your breasts can feel during those first few weeks.

Between milk coming in, frequent nursing sessions, and all the changes your body is experiencing, comfort becomes incredibly important. The Solly Baby Nursing Bralette has several features that I would have appreciated during those early days.

There were some times when I wanted to be bra-less; however, when your milk comes in, things can be tender and painful. So, it's nice to have extra-soft support to get you through.

I especially like that the pull-aside design is so straightforward. When you're exhausted and nursing a newborn every couple of hours, the last thing you want is to struggle with your bra.

The bralette also includes interior pockets designed to accommodate warm or cold compresses. This can be really useful during the early breastfeeding period. Whenever I would deal with clogged ducts, I would stick an ice pack in my bra to help with the pain and inflammation. I wish my bras then would have had this feature!

While I haven't personally tested this bra during the newborn stage, based on my experience breastfeeding three children, I think it would be a particularly comfortable option for those first weeks and months.

How I Wear the Solly Baby Nursing Bralette

For me, this is primarily an everyday, casual nursing bra. I love it for days at home, when I'm working, spending time with my kids, or want to feel comfortable without sacrificing support entirely.

It works well underneath my casual outfits, and I appreciate that I can wear it for hours without feeling restricted.

When you have three kids, you're constantly moving between different activities, and I don't want my clothing to make any of that more complicated.

I also like that the bralette doesn't feel overly specialized. While it's clearly designed for nursing, the simple construction means it can continue to be useful even after breastfeeding ends.

My one styling limitation is dresses. The shape doesn't work as seamlessly underneath every dress in my wardrobe, particularly when I want a smoother or more structured silhouette.

But that's a relatively small trade-off considering how comfortable it is for the situations where I wear it most.

What I Love and What I'd Consider Before Buying

After wearing the Solly Baby Nursing Bralette, there are a few things that stand out to me.

What I love:

  • The fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable against my skin.
  • The band feels supportive without being restrictive.
  • It's easy to pull aside for breastfeeding, even with an impatient toddler.
  • The light support is perfect for lounging, working from home, and casual everyday wear.
  • I can see it being especially comfortable during the early postpartum period.
  • It's a versatile piece that doesn't necessarily have to be retired once breastfeeding ends.

What I'd keep in mind:

  • It provides light support rather than significant lift or structure.
  • The style isn't ideal underneath every dress or more fitted outfit.
  • If you prefer a traditional bra shape, you may still want another option in your wardrobe.

Overall, the positives far outweigh those limitations for me because comfort and wearability are exactly what I'm looking for in an everyday nursing bra.

Is the Solly Baby Nursing Bralette Worth It?

After nearly eight years of pregnancy and breastfeeding, I've learned that comfort, quality, and ease of use are worth investing in.

The Solly Baby Nursing Bralette delivers on all three. It's incredibly soft, provides gentle support, and makes breastfeeding easy without complicated clips or hardware.

I think it's the perfect addition to a newly postpartum mom's wardrobe, especially during those early weeks when your body is adjusting, your milk is coming in, and comfort is everything. It's also a wonderful everyday option that can grow with you through the different stages of breastfeeding.

While I wouldn't reach for it under every outfit, it's absolutely a bra I'd recommend for those cozy days at home, casual outings, and countless nursing sessions.

Final Thoughts: Eight Years of Motherhood Have Changed What I Look for in a Bra

If there's one thing I've learned from having three children, it's that motherhood has a way of changing your priorities. Eight years ago, when I was preparing to welcome my first baby, I was thinking about all the things I would need for this new chapter.

I didn't yet realize how much time I'd spend breastfeeding or how important the little everyday comforts would become. Now, as I continue nursing my youngest, I have a much better understanding of what works for me.

I want clothing that's soft, practical, and easy to wear. I want pieces that accommodate motherhood without making me feel like I've completely lost my personal style.

And I want products that acknowledge that breastfeeding isn't just something that happens during the newborn stage. The Solly Baby Nursing Bralette checks so many of those boxes for me.
