25 Goals To Set In 2025

A new year is upon us, which means it’s time to start thinking about what goals to set in 2025 and also accomplish in 2025. Whether or not you believe in New Year’s Resolutions, there is something to be said for creating intentions and a vision for the year you want to have.

This is one of our staple posts each year. We love talking about goals here at GenTwenty. You can catch our previous goal posts from 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017. Today I’m sharing 25 goals that you can personalize to yourself and would be great to set and work towards in 2025. Before we get to that, I want to talk to you about how to set your goals.

Tips on How to Set Your Goals in 2025

When it comes to choosing goals for the year, you want to make sure they are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound). While I’m sharing more general goals here, you can easily turn them into SMART goals. For example, you can take the goal “paying off debt” and personalize it for you by saying your goal is to pay off X amount this year by saving X amount from each paycheck.

I like to also break my yearly goals down to monthly goals and then weekly and daily habits. This past year my reading goal was to read 80 books. I did that by making a goal to read seven or more books each month.

Then I broke it down further by making it a habit of reading for at least 30 minutes daily. It may not have happened everyday, but by continuing to monitor my progress and set those monthly goals, I was able to reach my yearly goal.

Now that you have some ideas on how to take your goals further, let’s get to the list of 25 goals to set in 2025.

25 Goals To Set In 2025

These goals all range from health goals to money goals and recreational goals to personal development goals. There is something there for everyone. Consider each idea and see if it resonates with something you want to accomplish this next year. Make each goal personal to you and what you hope to achieve.

Learn A New Skill

This is always a fun goal for the new year because it’s filled with so much possibility. You could choose any skill and you never know, it could lead to something amazing.

This new skill could lead to a new business idea, a new passion, or maybe even a promotion/new career. If it doesn’t though, that’s okay. Skills are useful to have and we should always be striving to learn and grow.

Read X Amount Of Books

I love a good reading challenge. Whether you are a slow or fast reader, anyone can participate in a reading challenge. Think about how many books you’d typically read in a year’s time and maybe add on a few more to make it a little challenging.

You can use apps like Goodreads, Dante, and Storygraph to keep track of your goal. Or, if you’d prefer a physical way to track your goal, a journal is a great resource. I created my own reading bullet journal this year and it’s been so fun to track all my reads through that.

Start A Journaling Practice

Journaling is a great way to process your emotions, capture life moments, and more. Making it a daily practice has been something I’ve been working on again and it’s felt so good getting back into that habit. There are many different ways to journal besides free writing. You can use prompts, do sticker journaling, and even gratitude journaling.

Complete A Savings Challenge

A yearly savings challenge is a great way to have some extra money for the next year ahead. There are a plethora of challenges you can do, I’ve gotten a lot of ideas from Pinterest. Choose one that seems doable for you, that will also stretch you to save more than maybe you wouldn’t think to do originally.

Spend More Time With Family And Friends

Time is a gift and it’s something we shouldn’t take for granted. Let’s not get so busy with work and the stress that life brings that we forget to spend time with the ones we love. Make it a goal to spend more time with your loved ones, and maybe reconnect with those we haven’t communicated with in a while.

Travel Somewhere New – Adventurous Goal To Set In 2025

This is always a fun goal to plan. Whether it’s somewhere close by, or you want to set off to paradise somewhere oceans away, traveling can be a great experience. We’ve got some great articles if you need some inspiration on places to go, or tips on how to travel best.

Pick Up A New Hobby

Like finding a new skill, picking up a new hobby can be full of excitement and possibilities. You never know if the hobby you’re choosing will become your newest obsession, introduce you to your new best friend, or inspire a new side hustle. Whatever your new hobby will be, I hope you thoroughly enjoy it.

Take More Videos

This is something that I personally want to do more of. I love creating and capturing memories, but I normally do so in the form of pictures. There is something to be said on looking back on videos though.

I think back to my childhood and how my parents videoed everything from birthdays to random days at home with our camcorder. And, I love watching those back from time to time.

I don’t naturally gravitate towards creating my own videos and I think I’ll regret that later in life. So in this next year I want to commit to taking more videos of the mundane, special moments, and everything in between. If that speaks to you, I challenge you to do the same.

Develop A Morning Routine

If you don’t have a morning routine this would be a great goal for you. It doesn’t need to be a complicated checklist of things to do in the mornings. Your morning routine can be as simple as you want it to be. Play around with different activities until you find a routine that works for you.

Unplug From Your Phone More

Whether you plan on completely unplugging at certain times throughout the year, or want to unplug more each day, this is a great goal for your mental health. Our phones can become addicting, especially social media. Make it a priority to step away more often in the new year.

Do A 30 Day Challenge – Personalize Your Goals to Set in 2025

Thirty day challenges can be a fun way to try something new, develop a new habit, or stretch yourself. There are a plethora of challenges you can do, depending on what you’re after. From The Whole 30 to a creative challenge, do some research and find the perfect 30 day challenge for you.

Take Yourself On At Least 12 Solo Dates

Solo dates are a great way to strengthen self love, have new experiences, and do things that you enjoy. I started doing solo dates this year because I was tired of missing out on activities and events because I had no one to go with.

It turns out, I enjoy them. You can plan the dates out or even randomly pick them like I do in my solo date jar. Aim to go on at least one a month.

25 Goals To Set In 2025

Redo An Area Of Your Home

This is one of my favorite of these 25 goals to set in 2025 because new years are a great time to refresh your space. You can do something as simple as rearranging your furniture, or more complex like switching out rooms or expanding your space. Figure out what your budget is and what you’d like to do, then figure out the right time to start.

Make A Bucket List

Bucket Lists are a fun way to prioritize things that you want to do during a certain time period. You can have one for the whole year or for the different seasons. I love making them each season to remind me to make the most of the seasonal activities.

Do Something For Your Inner Child

Think back to the activities you enjoyed as a child? Did you like reading a certain book series, riding your bike as often as you could, or maybe you loved to be creative? Choose an activity and do it as an adult.

Get More Sleep – Healthy Goal to Set in 2025

Sleep is very important to your overall health. You should aim to get at least seven hours of sleep a night. If that is typically a struggle for you, this would be a great goal to prioritize in the new year.

Make Those Doctor Appointments

Life gets busy and sometimes the last thing you want to do is go get a checkup. However, those appointments are more important than you realize. It’s a great way to get information about what’s going on in your body so that you can catch any irregularities before they become a problem. This year we will be making those appointments, right?

Create A Budget

Creating a budget isn’t a fun goal, but it’s a necessary one. You have to control your money so that your money doesn’t control you. That all starts with planning where your money is going to go. If you are new to budgeting, we’ve got some great tips for you right here on GenTwenty.

Pay Attention To Your Mental Health

When you ignore your mental health things will eventually bubble up to the surface and lead to dire consequences. Think of things like burnout, breakdowns, panic attacks, etc.. The good news is, by being more mindful of how you are feeling you can reduce the likelihood of those things happening. At the very least you’ll be able to handle them better.

Some ways you can be more mindful of your mental health this new year is to journal, meditate, track your mood, and even consider going to therapy.

Practice Gratitude Daily

A daily gratitude practice is a great habit to work towards in the new year. You’ll start noticing that you actively look out for things to be grateful for throughout your day. I like to do my gratitude practice during my journaling time.

Find An Active Activity That Brings You Joy

Staying active is a great way to prioritize your physical health. Doing this regularly is easier said than done, trust me I can relate. That’s why it’s important to find active activities that you actually enjoy. If you hate lifting weights, odds are you’ll not want to do them regularly.

However, if you like running you’ll be more likely to actually do it often. Finding an active activity you enjoy doing is great because sometimes it doesn’t even feel like you are working out if you are enjoying it.

Pay Off Debt – Financial Goal to Set in 2025

A great financial goal to set in this coming year of 2025 is paying off debt. Take a look at what you owe and what you make. Create a plan for how you can pay off your debt during this new year. You may have to miss out on some things and cut back, but the reward will be worth it.

Learn A New Recipe Every Month

If you’re like me, your cooking skills could use some work. That is why I am challenging myself to get in the kitchen more in 2025. One way I’m doing this is by trying a new recipe each month. I think this would be a great way to step outside my comfort zone and get more comfortable in the kitchen. Will you be joining me?

Find A Cause You Care About

Being able to give back is an amazing feeling, especially when you are passionate about the cause you are supporting. In 2025 I challenge you to find a cause to donate to or volunteer with in your local community. You’ll be doing a world of good, and may even inspire others to do their part as well.

Live A Sustainable Lifestyle

Our last goal on the list is an important one. By living a more sustainable lifestyle you’ll not only be making yourself and your home healthier, you’ll be doing good for the environment, and helping those that manufacture the goods you buy. Some ways you can live a more sustainable lifestyle is to shop slow fashion, buy organic products, grow your own food, and more.
