When I heard about the product, I thought it was such a fascinating and genius idea to blend fragrance and functionality with something so many of us struggle with – repelling bugs!

1. What inspired the creation of Eau de Parfum Natural Bug Repellant?   

Moon Rabbit’s Bug Eau de Parfum was born out of a need for a non toxic, clean solution that smells marvelous and is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  At Moon Rabbit we blend fun and functional and offer solutions based on healing modalities that have been around for thousands of years.  

2. As a perfume and a bug spray, the product blends fragrance and functionality – can you tell us more about how it works as both a perfume and a bug repellent?

You nailed it – fragrance and functionality is exactly what we were striving for.  Many of the naturally occurring plants in our world are actually bug repelling by their very nature.  And as humans we are not necessarily repelled by the same things that bugs are.  Thus we sourced ingredients that are appealing to us, but not to insects. 

3. What specific ingredients make this perfume bug repellant product both natural and effective in repelling bugs?

Citronella, Blue Tansy, and eucalyptus are all natural bug repellents.  

4. For people who might be sensitive to fragrances, how would you describe the scent?

At Moon Rabbit we always strive to be sensitive to how people experience fragrances. Given we see patients who suffer from migraines, are pregnant, and have many other health conditions, we work to find scents that are light, refreshing and do not over stimulate. 

5. What was the process of formulating a perfume bug repellant that smells great but also protects against insects? How was testing the spray?

We make all our products in house.  We are a team of acupuncturists and students who are constantly looking to offer traditional chinese medicine (TCM) in ways that are accessible and fun.  The first time we tested the product was actually on a family camping trip with my two young kids.  We handed out the sprays to other families on the camp ground and were so thrilled to hear the positive results!  

6. Many bug repellents contain harsh chemicals like DEET. So, can you explain how your Moon Rabbit natural perfume bug repellant formula compares in terms of effectiveness?

Chemicals are always going to be stronger.  But in this day, when we need to be aware that these chemicals have lasting effects on our health and environment, we hope to encourage natural alternatives whenever possible.  

7. Are there any plans for Moon Rabbit to expand this line with additional scents or variations?

Yes, we have something exciting in the works that will focus on glowing skin as well as a great smell and natural bug repelling properties.
