There are many benefits to starting your day off in a healthy way. In doing so, your entire day and attitude will benefit tremendously. Finding different habits to start your day in a healthy way can lead you to feeling happier and giving you more energy, like drinking the best smoothie to start your day.
I like to start my morning early and in as good of a way as possible. Not every day is perfect, however, I strive to do better on the days I falter. One simple and easy way I like to start my day off is with a healthy and delicious smoothie.
Since I started making smoothies my life has been so much better. It’s definitely not a quick fix to anything. But after my first month of drinking smoothies consistently, I started to notice so many positives in my life.
I felt better, overall. The vitamins and nutrients from these smoothies were doing great things for my body. I had more natural energy; I even stopped drinking coffee every single morning.
There was a time where I swore that I could never stop drinking coffee, yet here I was, doing it!
I started to notice my hair and nails looked healthier and were growing significantly fast. My skin looked better. My brain fog wasn’t so bad.
I felt more energy throughout the day and more will to do things I never had the energy for before. If you make the right smoothies, it will be sure to add many health benefits for both your body and your mind as well. From leafy greens to berries and grains; all will give you many benefits in different ways.
How to Build the Best Smoothie To Start Your Day
I have gathered together the best types of smoothies to help you feel great every day. These smoothies have similar ingredients but each one has a specific type of benefit to them.
I like to alternate so that I am getting a different benefit each day, so that I can have an overall well rounded health benefit from these smoothies. I also must add, smoothies can be so delicious! They do not have to be boring and you do not have to have the same one every day.
Proteins
It’s important to add proteins to give your smoothie or more filling effect and also for the health benefits. Proteins can help replenish any protein deficiencies you may have.
If you want to use a protein powder, I would highly suggest using a protein powder that is plant based and/or vegan. They usually have better health benefits.
However, there are so many other sources of protein to add into your daily smoothies to give you your proper protein nutrients. Some good sources of proteins are:
- Protein powder (Plant based or Vegan)
- Plain Greek yogurt
- Chia Seeds/Pumpkin seeds/Flax seeds
- Milk; such as almond milk, soy milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, etc.
- Peanut/Almond butter
- Raw Egg
Greens for good source of fiber and nutrients
Greens are important to add in a smoothie. The best part is, you usually won’t taste them. It’s the perfect way to make any smoothie a green smoothie without compromising the taste.
Here are ideas for good greens to put inside your smoothie:
- Spinach
- Kale and/or Chard
- Celery
- Green leaf lettuce
- Arugula
Tip: I use spinach in EVERY smoothie I make. You don’t taste it and it always provides me with my daily greens nutrients.
Immunity Boosters
There is no doubt that having an immunity booster in your smoothies will be beneficial for your health. Especially amidst a pandemic, we need to continue to stay as healthy as possible.
There are a variety of ways to incorporate immunity rich ingredients into your daily smoothies. Here are a few immunity ingredients you can try:
- Vitamin C sources: Oranges, Strawberries, Cantaloupe, Mango
- Antioxidants: Any Berries such as Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, Blackberries
- Turmeric: Loaded with many nutrients, immunity booster and antioxidants.
Gut health
Many people unknowingly struggle with gut health. SO many of us have gut issues but don’t even know it. While others may definitely have symptoms and are tired of dealing with them.
One major noticeable change was my gut heath after I started drinking smoothies. Everything changed and was so much better. Even being off dairy and coffee helped tremendously.
Here are some ideas for better gut health to add into your daily smoothies:
- Turmeric & Ginger. Both of which are known to be big anti-inflammatories and aide in healthy digestion.
- Chia seeds help to absorb soluble fiber.
- Bananas
However you decide to make your smoothies, know that any of these ingredients will be beneficial to your health. Using good sources of greens, antioxidants, and proteins will give you plenty of nutrients that your body need and may even be missing. It’s interesting to see just how much all of of these nutrients are beneficial to your health.
I briefly stopped smoothies and noticed a huge difference in my energy, my diet, and in the way I feel. At the time someone said something rather profound to me. How can you deprive your body of something that makes you feel great?
This could not be more accurate. Why would be deprive ourselves of nutrients and of the feeling of feeling energized naturally. The important thing to remember is to be diverse.
Don’t do the same smoothie every day as it will become boring. Mix it up and have fun with them. Smoothies have endless recipes. Enjoy a smoothie everyday to keep your doctor away.
