Meet the G20 Contributors: Alyssa Towns

All of the great content we share is brought to you by the GenTwenty team. We’re introducing you to the names and faces behind the site in this special series.

What is your first and last name?

Alyssa Towns

Where do you live?

Colorado

How did you first hear about GenTwenty?

I found GenTwenty through Pinterest in May of 2020. I searched for a home for all of the pieces I wanted to write for twenty-somethings and quickly fell in love with GenTwenty after browsing through the site.

When did you start writing for GenTwenty?

I submitted my application for GenTwenty in May of 2020. In early June, I saw Nicole tweet that she was looking to bring on more contributing writers. I quickly responded to her tweet and let her know that I had applied. Nicole emailed me shortly after seeing my tweet, and the rest is history!

If you had an extra hour in the day and you could do whatever you wanted, what would you do and why?

I would probably go for a walk. I love getting outside, but I don’t always do a great job at prioritizing it.

How do you recharge when you are stressed?

When I’m stressed, I try to listen to what my body needs. Sometimes I need a two-hour nap, and other days I need a long bath. I try to lean into workouts as much as possible, too.

Favorite sweet or savory treat?

I love peanut butter cups! I used to be a die-hard Reese’s fan, but Justin’s are delicious too.

What’s the best piece of advice you would give to another twenty-something?

Take a deep breath and enjoy this decade. Try not to succumb to the pressure of needing to have your life figured out because you’re young and have plenty of time. Use your twenties to explore and find who you are, what type of life you want to lead, and most importantly—slow down and have fun!
