It’s the start of a new school year! It’s an exciting time for sure, but it can also fill people with nerves. There’s some sort of unknown that comes with starting a new school year – whether starting a new school or simply starting a new grade. This is where some bible verses for starting a new school year can come in handy to ease the numerous questions that can be overshadowing.
Who’s going to be in your class? What’s your professor going to be like? How bad is the course load going to be? Will I even enjoy my classes? All of these questions, and more, are probably going through your mind.
These nerves can start if you are a teacher, too, rather than a student. You could be asking yourself the same or similar questions. Will I like my class? Will my students be good? What difficult moments am I going to have to face this year? How is my principal going to be?
Whether you’re a student or teacher, we want you to focus on the exciting aspects of a new school year. We want you to ease your nerves and also be ready for the school year. You can do this by saying some life-changing affirmations to yourself for confidence and success. You can also do this by talking to a friend or loved one about all the nerves you’re feeling. And naturally, you can also turn to the Bible.
Ease New School Year Jitters With These Bible Verses
That’s right – the Bible is a great place to turn to at the beginning of a school year. The bible verses can help ease your nerves for starting the new school year. They can also help set your perspective and have you start the new school year on a strong, clean slate. Which verses in particular should you be reading? These are great ones.
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Read those first six words again. Do not be anxious about anything. Remind yourself of that as you are starting this new school year!
Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Matthew 18:3-6 – “And he said, ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’”
You may feel childish if you’re headed back to school, but there’s something really important about becoming childlike.
Proverbs 16:9 – “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
This is one of those bible verses that is good for any time, but especially good if you are starting a new school or are in a new neighborhood. There’s no reason to be fearful!
Psalm 25:4-5 – “Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.”
Proverbs 1:7 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
A reminder to approach learning with humility and also the willingness to want to learn.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will show you which path to take.”
You are not in this alone. You are not expected to understand everything on your own.
Isaiah 30:21 – “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”
Did you go back to school and are questioning your decision? Maybe starting grad school or starting all over again? Instead of questioning your decision, listen closely, you very well may receive a new direction.
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Romans 12:16 – “Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!”
Colossians 3:23-24 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
When you need that motivation to work hard, this verse is a good one to read. It can really give you a sense of purpose and flip your perspective.
Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Matthew 6:34 – “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
There is no reason to worry about tomorrow when you’re still in today. So, whatever is going to happen tomorrow, prepare for it, and you will be ready.
Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
1 Timothy 4:12 – “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in purity.”
If you are a new teacher just starting out, this verse is a good reminder. You may face some obstacles or comments because of your age, but you shouldn’t stoop down to that level.
Psalm 121:1-2 – “I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Keep God’s Word Close Through The School Year
