Why Axiology’s Zero Waste Foundation Is Changing the Clean Beauty Game

In the ever-evolving landscape of clean beauty, Axiology stands out with its commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Their latest offering, the Fungdation – Mushroom Foundation, is a testament to this ethos. Touted as the world’s first foundation powered by mushrooms, this product seamlessly blends skincare benefits with eco-conscious packaging.

Because we love a zero-waste product I was super intrigued to try it for myself and test the performance, especially with such unique ingredients!

What Sets Fungdation Apart?

  • Mushroom-Powered Skincare: Infused with reishi and snow mushrooms, Fungdation offers deep hydration and skin-renewing benefits, making it more than just a cosmetic product.
  • Lightweight Coverage: This creamy foundation provides sheer to medium coverage with a supple, bouncy satin finish, enhancing natural features without masking them.
  • Versatile Application: Whether you’re concealing under-eye areas, blemishes, or pigmentation concerns, Fungdation adapts seamlessly across different skin types. For oily skin, it’s recommended to prep with a primer and set with powder, while dry skin types can add a facial oil for extra radiance.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

Axiology’s commitment to the environment is evident in Fungdation’s packaging. The foundation is housed in eco-friendly, biodegradable tubes, aligning with the brand’s mission to reduce plastic waste in the beauty industry.

Shade Range

Fungdation caters to a diverse range of skin tones, offering 15 shades from very fair to deep skin tones, ensuring inclusivity and a perfect match for everyone.

My Thoughts and Experience

I first tried the Fungdation a few months back and to be honest, I did struggle with it clinging to dry patches. My skin is more dry in the winter so I wanted to give it more of a fair shot as the weather warms up. My skin is aging (I am almost 35 😅) and tends to be more oily in the summer. For me, it was also more of a light to medium coverage foundation.

My skin without the foundation
My skin with the foundation

As you can see, I definitely have pores, texture, and redness going on. I do think the foundation gives a beautiful and natural looking coverage while still giving a skin-like appearance. A little bit goes a long way so don’t overdo it with your application!

A half and half comparison

It feels nice on the skin and not too heavy! I definitely think this is worth trying if you have oily skin especially. Axiology has great brand values that I think are worth supporting!

My Favorite Way To Apply It

After trying it a few different ways, I do think it looks best if you apply it directly with a brush and then diffuse it with a wet makeup sponge. I also think skin prep is key – this looks best when my skin is freshly exfoliated and moisturized with a rich, hydrating serum. I also have to set it with powder to really get the longevity but I personally have to do that with most foundations so I don’t really find it problematic in anyway!

Final Thoughts

Axiology’s Fungdation is more than just a foundation; it’s a blend of skincare, makeup, and sustainability. By harnessing the power of mushrooms and committing to eco-friendly practices, Axiology continues to lead the way in clean beauty innovation. I would highly recommend trying it out if you have oily skin!! Grab the Fungdation here! Don’t forget to use code GENTWENTY to get 20% off!
