Meet the G20 Contributors: Michelle Ioannou

All of the great content we share is brought to you by the GenTwenty team. We’re introducing you to the names and faces behind the site in this special series.

What is your first and last name?

Michelle Ioannou

Where do you live?

Bayside, New York. It’s in the Northeast Corner of Queens!

How did you first hear about GenTwenty?

I connected with Nicole on Twitter years ago, and the rest is history!

When did you start writing for GenTwenty?

I’ve been writing here since the beginning of 2018. I can’t believe it’s been over three years already!

If you had an extra hour in the day and you could do whatever you wanted, what would you do and why?

Spend it lying by the pool (or even better, on a beach) reading!

How do you recharge when you are stressed?

A nice glass of wine definitely helps. But when I find myself stressed, I try and step away, whether that be to walk away from my computer/phone and immerse myself in a book or a mindless tv show. If possible, I’ll try and plan a little getaway to completely get out and recharge. If I am feeling overwhelmed, I do tend to clean. There’s just something about organizing your home and deep cleaning that gives you a sense of satisfaction — it’s like a reminder that there are things you can control, and your life isn’t totally out of whack.

Favorite sweet or savory treat?

I do not have a sweet tooth at all. Give me mozzarella sticks instead of cake ANY day!

What’s the best piece of advice you would give to another twenty-something?

Live your 20s and enjoy them, don’t fall into the script you think society or someone else has written for you. Spend the decade figuring out who you are, what makes you happy, and taking risks. Your 30s will be here before you know it!
