The Ultimate Summer 2016 Guide to Having a Blast

Want to make summer 2016 your best one yet? Peep our ultimate guide to fun activities and goals for the warmer weather.

Summer 2016 is right around the corner. If you’re anything like me you just can’t get enough of summer activities. There’s just something about the atmosphere that makes it the most fun time of the year. I always aim to make it the best season yet.

Wherever you live, there are always opportunities to make it a great summer. Maybe you’re sick of your hometown, believe there’s nothing fun to do, or you just don’t know where to go. All of that is nonsense, however, because they are adventurous days and exploration waiting for you all over. Don’t be stuck inside wondering what to do. Invest your time and money into these 8 suggestions, and you’re bound to have a blast.

Go to a festival, concert or show.

We all know how expensive concerts can be. But this is one area of summer fun that is definitely worth the money.

I probably spend a little too much money on summer concerts, but that’s only because I know what I’m getting out of it. Sunshine, blue skies, tank tops, shorts, flip-flops, tailgates and good music. It’s the best combination of feel-good things all mixed into one.

Don’t worry about splurging on tickets. You’re losing money, but you’re also gaining experiences. Which in my book, is far more important.

Visit a summer hot-spot.

Try to book a mini-vacation if possible, to a place worth being. Even a short weekend getaway can make a huge difference if you find a spot that gives you the experience you need.

Maybe something local is more realistic, but perhaps something a little further is ideal. Start planning now! Figure out what budget you’re working with, where you would really want to go, who you would bring with you and how you would get there. Don’t hold back, that’s always my summer motto.

Get to the beach.

Whether you live 10 miles or 100 miles from the beach, make sure you make it a priority to get to one. Because nothing says summer more than beachin’ it. Laying on the sand, watching the waves roll in and soaking up the sun is one of the most relaxing feelings in the world.

It’s my favorite place to be and it’ll make you forget about any worries you have. Even if you’re not so into the relaxing part, there’s always volley-ball, can jam and water activities. Make it how you want it!

 Take on a boating experience.

If you like to take on a little more adventurous activities, boating is the way to go. Exhilarating, fast-paced and daring definitely describes how you’ll feel when being on the water. Examples of the types of boating include kayaking, canoeing, sailing, paddle-boarding, jet skiing, tubing and so many others. It’s not only an opportunity to explore the ocean, but also adds to your knowledge of how to steer, control, operate and successfully run them. Challenge yourself, and become a pro-boater.

Plan dusk/night activities.

My all-time favorite part of the day during the summer is dusk. The transition from day to night is one of the most beautiful sights and I always make sure I’m outside for it.

Planning a bonfire on the beach or even your backyard is always a great way to begin your night. Because we all love those summer nights!

Stargazing, fishing, camping, riding bikes, taking walks and even just getting some ice cream outside are great ways to absorb this time of the day. Take advantage of dusk, it’s a gratifying feeling.

Find places to eat/drink outdoors.

The best part about summer is not only eating food, but eating food outside. I love exploring different cuisines while being able to enjoy the outdoors at the same time. There’s so many awesome restaurant spots that only open for Summer, too. It gives you something to look forward to all winter! Atmosphere, good food and generous service will make your summer days feel luxurious even if you aren’t so far from home. Look-up some restaurants and bars worth trying. It might just be your new summer-spot go-to.

Change up your wardrobe.

Oh, what a perfect opportunity to go shopping. Summer clothes, in my opinion, are the best of them all.

A wardrobe update can always encourage summer activities and help embrace the long-awaited season every year. Be sure to educate yourself on summer fashion trends, even some that are a little out there.

>Trying out a new wardrobe can be a full-filling confidence booster. Follow fashion-inspired accounts on Instagram, grab a friend and try on some flowy hats!

 Be spontaneous.

Anything goes. Do things that you never see yourself doing. Step out of your comfort zone and spend a little more money than usual. Being spontaneous can sometimes be more fun than any activity you have planned. As long as you have an open mind and worry less, you’re bound to have an awesome summer.

How will you have a blast this summer?
