Barefaced Just Launched the Summer Skincare Kit Your Routine Needs
For me, summer is arguably the season when I ask the most from my skincare routine. Between more time outside, heat, humidity, sunscreen reapplication, travel, and the general chaos that seems to come with summer, I want products that are effective without turning my morning routine into a 12-step process. As a mom of three, I hardly have time for that.

Which is exactly the idea behind the new Barefaced Summer Staples Kit!
Barefaced has put together a streamlined warm-weather routine focused on three things our skin can definitely use more of during the summer: exfoliation, antioxidants, and sun protection. The kit combines some of the brand’s most popular products into an easy morning routine, plus a couple of extras designed for days spent on the go.
And while I haven't personally tried every product included in the Summer Staples Kit, I have used Barefaced's sunscreen and Polishing Pads, so this isn't my first experience with the brand.
Here's what you need to know about the launch—and why it's on our radar.
What's In The Barefaced Summer Staples Kit?
The Barefaced Summer Staples Kit is currently $235, compared with a $290 value.
You can customize two of the major products in the kit, choosing between:
You'll also receive:
- Liquid Gold
- Everyday Pouch
- Clean Slate Spritz Mini
Barefaced is also currently including a No Sun Club Hat with the kit while supplies last. We love a free hat and they know it.
Overall, the concept is refreshingly simple: exfoliate, add antioxidant protection, finish with SPF, and have something on hand to refresh your skin throughout the day.
Step One: Toning Pads
Barefaced's Toning Pads are the exfoliating step of the routine. They're formulated with a blend of acids including glycolic, lactic, mandelic, and salicylic acids to help address dullness, uneven texture, and clogged pores.
You can choose between the original Toning Pads, which Barefaced recommends for first-time users and normal-to-dry skin, or the stronger Toning Pads II, which have a higher concentration of glycolic acid.
I haven't personally tried either version of the Toning Pads yet, so I can't speak to how they perform on my skin.
I have, however, tried Barefaced's Polishing Pads, which are a separate exfoliating product from the brand. My experience with those has made me particularly interested in trying more of Barefaced's exfoliating products. I like skincare that makes my skin feel smoother and more refreshed without adding a complicated extra step to my routine, and pads make exfoliation incredibly easy.
I do have rosacea and I find these are still gentle enough to include in my routine 2-3x per week.

Step Two: Liquid Gold
Next comes Liquid Gold, Barefaced's 15% vitamin C serum.
Vitamin C makes a lot of sense in a summer-focused routine because antioxidants can complement your daily sunscreen while also helping address the appearance of uneven tone and environmental damage.
Barefaced formulates Liquid Gold with 15% L-ascorbic acid along with vitamin E and avocado extract. The brand describes it as a hydrating vitamin C serum designed to brighten the appearance of the skin, support the skin barrier, and defend against oxidative stress.
This is another product I haven't personally tested yet, but it's probably the product in the kit I'm most curious to try.
Step Three: SPF 50+
In the kit you can choose either Tinted Protection SPF 50+ or Sheer Protection SPF 50+ in the Summer Staples Kit. Both provide broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection and contain skincare ingredients including niacinamide, caffeine, lactic acid, and hyaluronic acid.
Sunscreen is obviously important year-round, but summer is when I become especially aware of how often we're actually outside. Between days by the pool, kids playing outside, vacations, errands, and just spending more time in the sun, having an SPF you actually want to put on makes a difference.
I've used some SPFs in the past that I didn't love, despite their clean ingredients. But the Barefaced SPF not only protects you from the sun but makes your skin incredibly glowy. I personally love it.

PLUS the Extras Make This Kit Especially Good For Travel
Barefaced also includes two extras with the Summer Staples Kit: an Everyday Pouch and a mini Clean Slate Spritz.
The Clean Slate Spritz is made with hypochlorous acid along with sodium PCA, copper PCA, and zinc PCA. I love a hypochlorous spray so I know this would be right up my alley!
And everything can go into the Everyday Pouch, making this a pretty convenient routine to pack for summer travel.
And then there's the No Sun Club Hat. It's a fun extra, but it also reinforces something worth remembering: sunscreen isn't the only form of sun protection. Hats, shade, and protective clothing all have a place in a smart summer routine too.
Why I Like The Idea Behind Barefaced's Summer Staples
What appeals to me most about this launch is that Barefaced isn't trying to convince you that summer requires an entirely new skincare routine.
Instead, the Summer Staples Kit focuses on a few foundational steps:
Exfoliate. Protect with antioxidants. Wear SPF.
Then there's a refreshing mist you can keep with you during the day.
That's it.
As someone who would much rather have a handful of products I consistently use than an overflowing bathroom cabinet, I appreciate that approach.
I also like that you can customize the kit. Someone newer to exfoliating acids can choose the original Toning Pads, while someone who already knows their skin tolerates stronger exfoliation can opt for Toning Pads II. Likewise, you can choose between tinted and sheer sunscreen depending on your preference. It's an awesome option from an awesome brand.
So... Is The Barefaced Summer Staples Kit Worth It?
At $235, this certainly isn't an inexpensive skincare purchase. However, the individual products included have a combined listed value of $290, bringing the savings to $55 before considering the free hat.
If you're already interested in trying several Barefaced products—or you already use the brand and need to replenish your summer routine—the bundle makes more sense than purchasing everything separately.
If you're completely new to Barefaced, you may prefer starting with one or two products before committing to the full kit.
Based on the Barefaced products I have personally used, though, I'm excited about this launch. The sunscreen has already given me a reason to pay attention to the brand, and I've enjoyed incorporating the Polishing Pads into my skincare routine as well.
The Summer Staples Kit feels like a natural extension of what Barefaced does well: taking effective skincare ingredients and putting them into a routine that doesn't feel unnecessarily complicated.
And during a season when I'd rather spend my time actually enjoying summer than standing in front of the bathroom mirror layering eight different serums?
A simple routine sounds pretty perfect.
