Summer is almost here! Can’t you just feel the warm weather already?! The only thing more exciting than getting closer to summer is having travel plans to look forward to. If you don’t already have that trip planned, don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to explore some summer 2025 vacation ideas.
Vacation Ideas For An Exciting 2025 Summer
We get it – vacation planning can be pretty overwhelming. There are so many different places you can go, at so many different price points. We’re here to help spark that inspiration, and to give you some great vacation ideas. Here are some of the places I have personally vacationed to in recent years, and would definitely recommend.
1. Disney World
Okay – this is expensive, and Florida is very hot in the summer. But hear me out – if you are a parent with kids itching to go to Disney World, summer may be your best option due to school. It is a popular time to go for this very reason, so you are going to want to plan in advance and be prepared to wait in line or take advantage of Lightning Lane’s if you could swing it.
There are some ways to help offset the price, like buying Disney gift cards in bulk at warehouse stores like BJs, Sam’s Club, and Costco that tend to offer them at a discount. It’ll be worth it when you see your child light up seeing their favorite characters.
If you’re not a parent, I’d recommend waiting to visit Disney not during the summer, as there are much quieter times you can go as you have the flexibility of not needing to wait for a school break! Also, if you don’t want to hit the parks, you can enjoy Disney Springs, which has so many great food and nightlife options!
2. Greece – A Unique Summer 2025 Vacation Idea
I am very biased here as I am Greek, so I will preface with that. Yes, the flight can be expensive. But when you get there – unless you are going to Mykonos or Santorini – it’s not as costly as you may think.
It’s a beautiful place, with beautiful weather, beautiful people, and beautiful food. There are so many Greek islands you can go to besides Mykonos or Santorini where you can bask in the Grecian sun and truly relax and unwind – Symi, Kefalonia, Paros, Naxos, Zakynthos, Aegina are just some that come immediately to mind.
You’ll see rich history, too, especially if you spend a night or two in Athens. It does get hot in Greece during the summer, so keep that in mind.
3. The Caribbean
Again, very hot, but let me explain – I always found going to the Caribbean in the summer to be more cost-effective for this very reason. It tends to be a lot cheaper than if you try to go during President’s week or spring break!
It’s an easy flight from most of the United States, plus, there are so many different and beautiful places in the Caribbean you can go to – Costa Rica, Aruba, Dominican Republic, Cancun, Antigua, Anguilla, St. Martin, etc.
There are so many different options all at different price points, you’re sure to find one that fits your budget. Also, the Caribbean offers so many all-inclusive options, so you know exactly what you’re spending up front and not need to worry about taking out your wallet while you’re there!
4. London
If you’re on the east coast, London really isn’t as far as it seems. Summer is a great time to go because it’s not as hot as other places. This makes London as a summer 2025 vacation idea as one of the best places to visit if you want cooler summer weather.
There’s a lot to see in London, so summer also offers the longest daylight hours too. You can enjoy Wimbledon, outdoor concerts and festivals, shopping, and more. This is peak tourist season for London, so just keep that in mind!
5. Cape Cod
If you want to stay domestic, keep Cape Cod in mind. It’s a popular summer destination for good reason – it’s filled with beaches, history, culture and so many outdoor activities. There’s literally hundreds of miles of sandy beaches, many of which are public.
The history on Cape Cod dates back to the 17th century, and you can feel it while you’re there. There’s also lots of cute small towns that make up Cape Cod with boutique shops. It’s an escape from the city, without really being too far from one.
6. Mystic, CT – The Summer 2025 Vacation Idea You Didn’t Know You Needed
Speaking of cute New England towns, Mystic, CT is one that you may want to visit. This is a charming, coastal, town that has a beautiful walkable downtown area.
It’s known for excellent waterway attractions with its Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. There’s also Olde Mystic Village that has really cute shops, events, dining, and more.
7. San Francisco, CA
I remember going to San Francisco in August and was shocked at how cool it was! There’s an old quote from Mark Twain that says, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”
If you want to get out of the heat, this may be a good option for you. The weather makes it great to explore the city and explore outdoor places like the Golden Gate Bridge, the “Full House” home, or many festivals that are offered.
8. Pompano Beach, Florida
I like to think of this as a hidden gem in Florida. This is because it didn’t feel as touristy as other areas of Florida which is a huge plus.
It’s right on the beach and has a long pier and lighthouse making it a quintessential beach getaway. There’s tons of dining, bars, and other attractions and in my opinion, gave off more of an upscale vibe than other beach towns I’ve been to.
9. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
I recently went to Myrtle Beach, SC for the first time and I loved it! There is so much to do. If you want to just hang out on the beach, you can. If you want to go shopping, dining, or enjoy the Boardwalk, you can.
There’s even a Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing, which gave me a Disney Springs type of feel. There’s also tons of mini golf places everywhere – there’s over 30 different ones to choose from!
