7 Self-Care Tips For A Soul-Focused Summer
Summer is in full swing! And if yours is anything like mine, it’s a busy, jam-packed season. I’m grateful for the time to be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather with friends and family, of course. But being so busy can really take a toll on my wellbeing if I’m not careful.
Today I want to share with you seven tips that are helping me stay centered during this busy, warm season. Prioritizing ourselves is important. It’s what helps us avoid burnout and keep our minds and bodies healthy.
7 Self-Care Tips For A Soul-Focused Summer
1. Go to bed earlier.
Summer nights can go late. Especially because the sun sets a few hours later than normal. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at the clock just this year already to realize it’s already 9pm even though it’s still fairly light outside.
This has definitely thrown off my evening routine which doesn’t always leave me well-rested. The summer months seem to be busier than other seasons for me, and they might be for you too. There are a lot of events going on but rest should still be a priority.
I suggest setting an alarm each evening for you to begin your wind-down nighttime routine. If you’re aiming to be asleep by 10 let’s say, set an alarm for 8:30 pm so you finish up what you’re doing, and start getting ready for bed.
2. Keep a gratitude list
Gratitude is something we emphasize a lot here at GenTwenty. Try keeping a list of three things you are grateful for everyday. This can be anything from I’m grateful for “a hot shower this morning” to “the card from my grandma” to “a few minutes of peace and quiet this afternoon.”
Reminding yourself that there are things you are grateful for keeps things in perspective. It allows you to bring into focus the positives in your life. That can be an incredibly powerful reminder when you feel like things aren’t going your way. Treat yourself to a beautiful journal and start making your list for today right now!
Exfoliation has so many amazing benefits. It clears off dead skin but also is great for improving blood circulation. If you have normal skin, exfoliating two to three times a week is great. If your skin is more sensitive, once might be enough for you. Be careful not to over-exfoliate as it can strip the skin of necessary oils.
4. Say no to some plans.
You know when someone asks you to do something and your gut reaction is immediately that you don’t want to? It’s okay to trust that feeling.
Not everything is for everyone and you don’t always have to say yes! You are allowed to say no and not feel bad about it — especially during a busy season.
Give yourself permission to say no to something you’re not interested in. It just opens up your schedule for something you do want to do!
5. Try something new.
It’s important for us to try something new on a regular basis so that we can get out of our comfort zones and grow as individuals.
Summer is great time to make new plans and try something out. The days feel longer because the sun rises earlier and sets later so we have more daylight to make the most of.
I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and do something you’ve always wanted to do but have been waiting for the right moment. Or waiting to find the courage to do. Don’t wait for someone else to join you either. Go do it alone if you have to! But whatever it is, just do it.
6. Plan out your outfits.
This is a productivity hack and self-care tip all rolled into one. It’s super simple to plan out your outfits but doing so will save you so much time and hassle each morning!
Whether you’re working through the summer, traveling, or have a break in the summer months — take a half an hour on Sunday night to lay out all of your outfits for the week. Making your clothes grab-and-go style is one less decision you need to make every morning on your way out the door.
You don’t need anything fancy to be organized either. Just hang up your outfits by day or stack them in a corner of your closet.
7. Take your vitamins.
I always feel more put together when I take my vitamins. It’s always something I’ve been extremely adamant about. I know I’m not always eating the most well-rounded diet and it’s important to me to fill in those nutritional gaps with a multivitamin.
My husband and I have been taking the Swisse Men’s Ultivite Multivitamin and the Swisse Women’s Ultivite Multivitamin each morning. I always feel better when I take my multivitamin — especially one that includes vitamin B12, iron, and folic acid like the Swisse Women’s Ultivite Multivitamin.
I can tell when I’ve skipped it as I really start to feel myself dragging and having less energy. Making sure these vitamins are included in my daily routine are essential for keeping me feeling my best. I’m also very fond of them because they don’t leave a bad aftertaste in my mouth when I take them. A huge win-win for me!
Make sure to talk to your doctor about what other vitamins you might need to supplement with. Because I’m breastfeeding, I’m taking Swisse Ultiboost Calcium + Vitamin D tablets on a daily basis as well. They don’t hurt my stomach and are easy to take with meals.
Both my husband and I also take the Swisse Ultiboost Vitamin C + Manuka Honey when we need an extra boost or when we’re traveling. Being around our little one means I do everything I can to stay as healthy as possible!

I love shopping a iHerb because they have everything I need (they carry over 30,000 products and ship to over 150 countries!). The shipping is always super quick, which is something I appreciate. My last order shipped one day after I placed the order and arrived two days later. Everything is held in climate-controlled distribution centers too so I feel comfortable ordering my vitamins from them.
So there we have it — my top seven self-care tips for a soul-focused summer. It’s a challenge to remember to prioritize our minds and bodies when we’re in such a busy season. But practicing these tips help me stay focused. I’d love to hear what your favorite summer self-care tips are!
