Whether it’s your first date or you have been dating for years what girl doesn’t want to look her best on date night? Here are some makeup tips that will keep his eyes glued to you all night long!
It has been said time and time again that guys love a sultry smokey eye. This look is quite easy to pull off, too! First, it is important to figure out what type of smokey eye you want to accomplish. For blue or grey eyes I suggest going for a brown or black look. Brown eyes look great with a purple smokey eye. Green or hazel eyes can also pull off purple and earth tones. Feel free to play around with different color combinations to decide which look you like best!
Since experimenting with dark shadows can be scary you may want to invest in an eyeshadow palette designed for smokey eyes. There are so many to choose from no matter what your price range may be. (1) NYX Cosmetics makes a few different smokey eye palettes and most of them are under $15! I typically use my Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette for a brown or purple smokey eye and I’m never disappointed. Another great option is the Sephora Collection Pro Lesson Palette, which contains instructions on how to achieve the perfect smokey eye.
When wearing a smokey eye there are two important tips to remember. Always put your eye makeup on before you apply concealer, foundation or blush. A lot of the times dark shadows have a way of getting on your cheeks during application. Doing your eyes first will allow you to get rid of this excess instead of ruining your face makeup.
Dark eye looks can be overpowering if worn incorrectly so it is crucial to tone down the rest of your makeup. This is even more important when going on a date because no one wants to go out with a clown! A good rule of thumb is to wear a pale lip and keep it light on the cheek color as well.
If a smokey eye isn’t quite your thing then you’re in luck because a natural look is just as popular. To achieve this, pick one feature on your face to focus on. For example, I like to define my eyes because I think they are one of my best assets. When doing your makeup you will work on drawing attention to that one feature while keeping the rest of your look subtle.
A nude lip is always a safe bet. I love lining my lips with (2) MAC Lip Liner in Naked then applying (3) MAC Crème Cup Lipstick on top. Another great way to get a natural look is by using less eye makeup.
When going on a date it is always best not to go overboard with the makeup. Hopefully these tips will help you feel your best the next time you’re on a date!
