How To Make Monday Your Favorite Day of the Week

Dread Monday? Yeah, we totally understand. Try one of these 6 tips - you might start looking forward to it instead.

Why are Mondays always such a drag?  Your weekend is officially over and it’s back to work, bright and early.  But once Monday’s alarm clock goes off, getting out of bed is a major struggle.  You then find yourself in a funk all day and are in need of a coffee IV, stat!  The days of sleeping in and skipping class have ended, twenty-somethings.

But are there any ways to get out of your Monday funk?  Can you revert back to your happy, carefree attitude you felt during the weekend?  Absolutely.

Here are the best ways to avoid having a case of the Mondays:

1. Exercise in the morning
While exercising might not be on your noggin early in the AM, make it a priority, if you can.  Take a morning jog before work to decrease your stress level and jump start your entire day.  Just don’t go at it too hard – you won’t like your Monday if you hobble into work with a sprained ankle.

2. Smile
Smiling is always important (just ask a party hostess).  When you take a moment to smile, it could lift your spirits, as well as others’. If you start smiling even when you don’t feel like it, we guarantee that you will be in a better mood before you know it.

3. Take a YouTube break
Everyone needs a break to laugh, smile, cry or feel something other than work stress (or sleepiness) on a Monday.  Take this mental break after lunch to continue making your Monday the best one it can be.

4. Grab lunch with a friend or co-worker
Whether you’re working or still a twenty-something student, take the time to catch up with a friend or co-worker outside of your normal environment.  Have you been promising to meet up with a friend from college for months?  Do it on a Monday!  This could be the thing you need to make the rest of your week better.

5. Don’t sweat the small stuff
Mondays can be pretty awful, especially if you know what to expect when it arrives.  Are Mondays the dreaded day of your weekly quizzes in class?  Or are Mondays the one day in the week you have to meet with your boss about your work?  To make your Mondays better, learn to brush things off your shoulder and don’t stress.  It’s only one day out of seven each week, so keep your cool.

6. Don’t forget about Friday
As in the previous Friday. Take a few moments before heading out for the weekend to organize your desk and make your Monday to-do list. Monday will feel just a little less hectic if you prepare ahead of time.

Office Space taught us that Mondays are to be avoided (Lumburgh, too).  But we say otherwise.  Mondays shouldn’t be feared… they should be embraced!

Find a way to make your Monday the best day of the week and you’ll set yourself up on the right track for success during the rest of the week.
