If you are looking to overhaul your skincare routine, you’ve come to the right place! Looking for natural and non-toxic products can be overwhelming to say the least. My goal here is to share a list of non-toxic facial moisturizer options that are available at LOOKFANTASTIC!

LOOKFANTASTIC is the original online British beauty boutique which aims to provide a wide range of products to people all over the globe. They have a generous member rewards program and offer many discounts and free gifts with purchase. They are ultimate destination for hair, beauty, skincare and all things to make you look and feel fantastic! I am proud to partner with LOOKFANTASTIC to bring you this list of non-toxic facial moisturizers.

Why non-toxic facial moisturizers?

Many products on the market today, especially in the U.S., contain unregulated ingredients, many of which are known to be harmful to human health and banned in many countries across the world.

Many products suffer from “greenwashing” which is where clever and unregulated marketing is used to describe a product. This doesn’t always paint a clear picture of the ingredients inside.

Below, I’ve given a description of each product, listed the price, which skin type it is best for, and included the key ingredients (which I call “Hero Ingredients”) that make the product stand out.

What I Look For In a Non-Toxic Moisturizer

When I’m looking at an ingredient list, the first thing I look for is fragrance.

Fragrance is a blanket term companies are allowed to use to keep their proprietary blends “safe,” however, this term can be used to camouflage over 3,000 chemicals, many of which are toxic to the human body. As a consumer, it is up to us to choose not to use products that contain “fragrance” as an ingredient.

Instead, I look for products that have no added fragrance or are scented with essential oils.

The next thing I personally look for is a short ingredients list. When a list is shorter, I’ve found that it’s less likely to contain unneeded toxic ingredients.

I also personally like to avoid synthetic ingredients preservatives and ingredients, like Sodium Benzoate and Phenoxyethanol in my products. Phenoxyethanol has been linked to allergic contact uritica and dermatitis and can have adverse effects on the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Synthetic ingredients are not always bad (just like natural ingredients might not always be good), so it’s important to have a clear idea of what you’re putting on your skin! If you’re not sure about something, you can always look it up at the the Environmental Working Group which links to studies and research on ingredients.

Additionally, I Iook for organic ingredients and organic products.

Organic means that something was produced without prohibited substances. These harmful chemicals can still be present in the final product and are dangerous to human health. It’s not always possible to find these but I have listed a few below!

If you’ve had allergic reactions to certain ingredients in the past, please avoid them in your products. I also avoid things like mineral oils and look instead for naturally soothing ingredients like plant extracts, green tea, jojoba oil, amino acids, essential fatty acids, cocoa butter, coconut oil, coconut water, seed oils, and vitamin e, among others.

You don’t just want to look at the active ingredients either, you also want  to look at the inactive ingredients — that is where you are most likely to find the toxic additives.

It’s not always about being “perfect,” it’s about making better and less-toxic choices when it comes to our skin care products!
