WomenWhoRock

Listen up ladies! We live in a society that is filled with powerful, strong, successful women and that is something to be commented on! While thinking about a few of my favorite women, I’ve realized there is much to be learned from them. Here are a few notes we can all take from some women who simply rock:

Taylor Swift
This 23 year old woman has built herself from the ground up and found huge success. After some ups and downs, Taylor Swift signed with Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by Sony/ATV Music publishing house, and that was just the beginning. Since then Taylor has won 7 Grammys, 11 AMAs, 7 CMAs, 6 ACMs and has sold over 26 million albums.

Aside from the fact she wins all these awards and sells out world tours (I’ve seen her on 5 different occasions), I think we can learn from Taylor Swift that it’s okay to speak our mind. She is known for calling out exes in her songs and revealing her true feelings, not to mention she’s provided us with a new twenties girl anthem called “22.” She’s a serial dater but she’s not afraid to tell the world about it. We can all take a page from Swift’s book and remember that we have the freedom to say what we feel.

Lena Dunham
At 27 years old, Lena Dunham has taken the world by storm with her hit HBO show “Girls.” Yes, she has already won two Golden Globes for Girls and that’s amazing, but more importantly she is the writer, director and star of the show! She is an incredible talent with humor that cannot be replicated. Seriously, if you want a good laugh check her out on Twitter @lenadunham.

Lena Dunham is a woman that chooses to stand out in a crowd. She is constantly naked on “Girls” as an example that you don’t have to be a stick figure to feel confident about your body. The writing she does for the show portrays what it can be like as twenty something in NYC and the struggles that we face while trying to make a life for ourselves (naturally with a little more drama). Lena is an independent woman that we can all learn from. She exudes confidence and can laugh at herself, which is something everyone should know how to do.

Zooey Deschanel
This next woman totally rocks. Quirky, musical and adorable are just a few ways to describe the talented Zooey Deschanel. You may recognize her from her role as Jess on “New Girl” or perhaps from her role as Summer in “500 Days of Summer.” Not only is Zooey as successful actress, but she is also a member of the band She & Him and a co-founder of the website hellogiggles.com. She’s got a lot on her plate but she has certainly found a way to manage all of her success.

Zooey recently released a new album called “She & Him Volume 3” and the sitcom she stars in, “New Girl,” has been renewed for another season. Zooey teaches us to strive for what we want. She has multiple talents and chooses to devote time to each one of them. We can learn from Zooey Deschanel not to settle and that it is possible to find success in multiple areas of our lives.

Lauren Conrad
LC has come a long way from her days on the reality TV shows “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills” and left her mark in both the publishing and fashion industries. She has successfully launched two fashion lines including “LC by Lauren Conrad” and “Paper Crown.” While Lauren has always had a passion for fashion, she has also succeeded in publishing eight books and is a New York Times best selling author. You can also keep up with Lauren on her website laurenconrad.com that focuses on health, beauty, fashion and more.

There is so much we can learn from this self-made, powerful California girl. Lauren has grown into successful woman despite being in the public eye since she was a teenager. We can take note of the way Lauren handles herself in public. She is classy and always well put together, which is something every twenty something should know how to do.
