Are you ready to head back to school this fall? When I was in college, back to school shopping was one of my favorite parts of heading back to campus.

I had so much fun incorporating new styles and pieces into my wardrobe that would carry me into the cooler weather, help me feel put together, and also still be cozy for studying and hanging out with friends.

Pieces that were multi-functional were the all-stars of my wardrobe. And bonus points if they were comfortable!

I love shopping the Mudd line at Kohl’s for pieces to help transition my wardrobe to fall. Kohl’s has so many gorgeous options for the back to school season and Mudd has a ton of great pieces with feminine details and silhouettes.

Don’t forget about the Back To School offer at Kohl’s and save $10 off a $50 purchase from 8/2-8/18. It can be used on all Mudd apparel!

4 Style Ideas For Transitioning Your Wardrobe To Fall:

1. Add in textures.

I’m really loving combining a variety of textures this season. From waffle knits to denim, pair varying textures and patterns together is a fun twist on classic pieces.

This mixed texture tee has two textures built in and pairs comfortable with a denim skirt or jeans!

Go for mixed material tops, waffle prints, crochet, or denim. Pairing different fabrics together can make a casual outfit more professional, helping you go from class to internship to club meeting with total ease.

Denim skirts are super popular this season and should definitely be a staple in your wardrobe! I’ve been into tucking my top into a denim skirt for a more structure silhouette.

I love how many options are available at Kohl’s and Mudd — there’s really something for everyone!

2. Mix summer colors and fall colors.

Like with the weather, summer fashion often fades into fall slowly and then all at once. As you’re going through that period where it’s still warm during the day but sometimes feels cool with a breeze, start combining your summer favorites with cardigans for cooler weather.

I love this hooded cardigan from Mudd. It’s super soft, incorporates multiple textures, and pairs easily with a ton of different looks. I grabbed it in this lovely green and the gray!

There are a lot of fun color combos that can help you bring your summer wardrobe into fall. Think green and rust yellow, deep blue and maroon, burnt orange and white or black.

I’m loving fun details on different pieces, too! Like the tassels on these shorts. They’re super cute and perfect for lounging around in.

Here’s a color combo I’m obsessed with for this season:

I’ve been obsessed with wearing yellow this summer and I’m looking forward to bringing those tones into fall!

I love the details on these tops, too. The textured stripes and the buttons are special details that really make an outfit special. There are a few other options available here too.

3. Incorporate white denim.

White denim is really having a moment right now. I’m seeing it everywhere! From jeans to jackets to skirts, there’s a ton of different ways to add white denim to your outfits.

A jacket over a summer dress can help transition your clothes to fall. Especially when they’re as comfortable as this dress. Seriously, it’s so soft! It almost feels like pajamas.

4. Get cozy.

You can never have enough cozy clothes, am I right? Truth be told, these types of pieces make up the majority of my wardrobe.

These joggers are insanely comfortable and a must-have in my book. They come in a couple of different fun prints and they have pockets!

But cozy can mean other things too. Like those shorts I showed above, they can be paired with a ton of different tops!

I know I’ll be wearing this cardigan so much this fall. The crochet pattern offers such a nice design detail that brings texture and a touch of coziness to any outfit.

I also have to say that leopard print is really fun for me this year. I know a lot of people consider it a neutral but it’s really never been something I’ve loved until now. This shirt is so fun — I really love the buttons and tie at the waist!
