The best beauty products to combat dry winter skin
While it’s tempting to start buying sundresses and sandals, the truth is we’ve still got a lot of winter to get through before we can fully catch spring fever. Winter makes me ache for days where you I need is sunblock and you’re set. The cold weather can wreak havoc on your skin, but there is hope! Keeping skin healthy and beautiful during cold winter months is easy when you know what use.
Hydration is absolutely key to locking down a healthy, fresh complexion during these dark months. Make sure you have a good facial moisturizer in your beauty regime. Even if you have oily skin, moisturizing is a step you don’t want to skip. Cetaphil and Aveeno are my personal favorites, with added SPF (because, believe it or not, you can still get burned even when it’s below freezing outside), for the budget-conscious. However, if you’re looking to splurge on something special, Embryolisse is a cult favorite that just can’t be beat.
Hands get a beating during winter as well. We’re right in the middle of peak cold and flu season, and that means you’re probably washing your hands more than usual. While scrubbing and suds are great for staying healthy, it can become a problem when it means dry and even cracked hands. Slipping a tube of hand lotion into your purse can make all the difference. First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream is a great option because it is whipped so you don’t feel greasy after application. But if you’re serious about moisturizing your hands, you can’t go wrong at the drugstore with Neutrogena’s classic hand cream (we always keep it in our purse). Ensure that you’re taking care of your nails as well with The Body Shop’s Almond Hand & Nail Cream.
All that being said, if you aren’t hydrating enough in the first place, there won’t be any moisture to lock in! Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. Fun water bottles are a cute, eco-friendly way to reinforce this habit. I like this Monopoly themed one from ModCloth or these innovated glass bottles from Lifefactory. A humidifier can also make a huge difference. (If you find your apartment is a hot bed for static electricity, you’ll be amazed at what a good humidifier can do). The Crane drop shape ultrasonic humidifiers produce amazing results, are stylish, and come in lots fun colors.
Winter doesn’t have to mean dull skin. Keeping hydrated means you’ll get through the winter healthier and happier. Together we can beat the winter blues! Tell us, what are your holy grail secrets to beautiful winter skin?
