When it comes to achieving an optimum level of health, we can all listen to the doctors and take on the government recommendations, but in reality, health means something different to us all.

Some people will take it more to the extreme than others, and some will want to lead a balanced lifestyle. And that’s okay. Because health really is personal. But at the same time, there are some really clear lines that signify “unhealthy. ”And it’s those that we want to beat to stop us suffering from poor health.

So if you’re really keen to prevent yourself getting ill, here’s how your lifestyle choices can help to prevent specific health issues.

1. Staying Active to Have A Healthy Heart

First of all, you’re going to want to work on being as active as you can. And this probably sounds like a huge cliche as the first point, but it really is that important. It can be the difference between being healthy and unhealthy.

When you move more, you can keep your heart healthy and start shifting any excess weight that you’re carrying. Although your shape doesn’t always signify that you’re unhealthy, when you are a little heavier than you need to be, it can put a strain on your heart, which can lead to heart disease and even death.

2. Eat to Treat Poor Kidneys

Now, this point isn’t quite what you think it might be. Because although eating to treat yourself every now and again is okay, it’s not all of the time. But eating to treat ailments, and better yet, prevent them?

Now that’s our kind of eating to treat, especially when it comes to preventing kidney stones. Foods like watermelon and blueberries can work wonders for keeping kidney stones away.


3. Breathing More to Combat Anxiety

But let’s talk about the mind a little more. Because there’s always so much emphasis on keeping your body healthy, but it’s essential that you can keep your mind healthy too.

Stress and anxiety can both be real problems. But you’d be surprised at how well breathing better can work. When you’re stressed out or anxious, taking deeper, slower breaths can be really great to calm any tension in your body. It can also clear your mind to keep you back on track, helping to prevent anxiety from setting in.

4. Sleeping to Prevent Burnout

At the same time, you should also be looking at how sleep can help your health. Good levels of sleep can help your health both mentally and physically.

With the right amount of sleep, and a good quality at that, your body heals itself. This can be essential to preventing your mind and body from burning out under pressure.

With an average of seven to nine hours of sleep each night, you’ll have more energy, feel healthier, and be able to keep burnout at bay.

5. Say No To Discourage Cancer

We all know that certain toxins just aren’t great for us. Whether you’re a social smoker or you’ve had a habit for years, if you want to do your bit to keep cancer as well as well as you can, you really need to ditch the habit.

Because excess smoking, and even second hand smoke can lead to cancer. But if you want to discourage it, then you’re going to need to start saying no!
