The month is filled with giving thanks and giving to those who we love in our loves, and what better than to do that with food? I know you have a favorite Thanksgiving dish. Here’s mine:

How To Make The Perfect Candied Yams

My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Candied yams are my favorite thanksgiving side dish because it’s the perfect combination of carbs and sweets. It tastes like Heaven, but couldn’t be any easier to make.

Any dish that’s too good to be true AND is a quick fix up, is a winner in my book.

Core ingredients for the perfect candied yams.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Large sweet potatoes (use two large cans or 8 medium/small)
  • 1/4 cup of butter, cut into squares
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups of miniature marshmallows


  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Peel the sweet potatoes, cut into slices, and place them in a baking dish.
  3. In separate bowl, combine brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir, then pour over the sweet potatoes. (No need to heat and melt the butter or other ingredients.)
  4. Place dish in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  5. Take dish out of the oven and add miniature marshmallows over the top. Bake another five to ten minutes.

Top with extra marshmallows for even more deliciousness!



  • Make sure to stir the ingredients separate from the sweet potatoes to create the appropriate taste.
  • Using bigger marshmallows will cause a messier dish. Stick with the miniature ones!
  • If you like your marshmallows a little crisp/toasty, keep them in the oven in a little longer 😉
  • Always remember to practice safe cooking and wear oven mitts!
