What to wear: Summer wedding attire

WeddingAttire

Now that we’re approaching the middle of the summer, wedding season is really starting to pick up. We’re here to help answer the frequently asked question on wedding guests’ minds: what should I wear? It’s not as hard as you think! The summer provides beautiful warm weather that makes dressing up as easy as 1-2-3.

Floral Dress
For a casual wedding, you can always get away with a simple floral dress. We recommend floral for summer weddings because it is on par with the season and offers many pops of color. Not sure which material to choose? Try a chiffon dress because it is flirty but tasteful. This is also a good choice for an outdoor wedding because it is loose and lightweight. A floral dress will definitely give you some flair while you twirl around on the dance floor.

Before deciding, consider browsing online boutiques for event dresses, including floral or chiffon options, that match your style and the wedding’s ambiance perfectly.

Fancy Maxi Gown
Maxi dresses have been a popular trend for a while now, so why not extend them into wedding wear? A maxi is perfect for the hot summer weather and comes in many variations. While I wouldn’t recommend wearing  your favorite beach maxi to a wedding, many stores carry fancier maxi gowns that will be perfect for the occassion. Go for a chic maxi dress with embellishments as a little something extra to dress it up. You’ll look perfect for a summer wedding and feel comfortable!

LBD
You can’t go wrong with a classic little black dress. Chances are you already own a classy LBD, but there is always room for more! The little black dress works for all occasions but if you’re concerned about wearing black in the summer, we have one word for you: ACCESSORIZE. Accessories will be the key to making your LBD fit with the summer season. Get a chunky and colorful statement necklace or colored pumps to brighten up this classic look.

High-Low Dress
High-low dresses and skirts on completely on trend right now. The high-low style is an adorable pick for a summer wedding. They are typically made with light materials that will keep you from looking sweaty in those outdoor wedding photos. The high-low aspect lets you show off a little leg without coming off as a club-goer. Try it out in a pastel color because, well, it is summer after all. I wore a pale blue high-low skirt to my sister’s graduation and received many compliments. Tried and true, this look will totally work.

One-Shoulder Dress
Like a little edge to your outfits? Branch out from that typical cocktail dress and rock a one-shoulder dress to the next summer wedding you attend! While my boyfriend refers to my one-shoulder ensembles as “Tarzan dresses” they make a very cute outfit for a wedding (what does he know about fashion anyways!). You’ll get to show off a little of that summer tan while looking fabulous in photos.

You don’t need to break the bank to look great at a wedding. Last summer I found the perfect dress on Forever21.com for FIVE DOLLARS! I took a chance on the final sale and it totally paid off. I treated myself to $50 color blocked heels from Nine West to complete the look. I was able to put together a classy summer wedding outfit for a mere $55. Search websites like Forever21, Nordstrom, Macy’s, and Tobi and keep an eye out for the many summer sales! Dress to impress, ladies!
